Placenta Encapsulation in Whatcom County

Benefits of Placentophagy

During pregnancy, the placenta transports oxygen and nutrition to your sweet baby. Many cultures honor the placenta after birth. Now many women find that consuming the iron rich, nutrient rich dehydrated placenta reaps many benefits during the challenging postpartum period.

  • Balanced Hormones and Mood

  • Decreased levels of baby blues and depression

  • Increased Energy

  • Faster Recovery Post-birth

  • Increased Milk Supply

  • Better Sleep

Studies show interesting results!

We surveyed 189 females who had ingested their placenta and found the majority of these women reported perceived positive benefits and indicated they would engage in placentophagy again after subsequent births.

When asked to describe any positive effects experienced, the majority of women in the sample claimed that they experienced improved mood as a result of consuming their placenta postpartum (40%). The second most frequently given response to this question was increased energy/decreased fatigue (26%). Women also reported benefits related to improved lactation (15%) and alleviated postpartum bleeding/discharge (7%). Other positive self-reported effects were balance; prevented or treated anemia; increased strength/vitality; improved/accelerated recovery; weight loss; prevented/relieved headaches; facilitated bonding with infant; reduced pain; treated/prevented hypothyroidism; replenishment/regulation of hormones; increased/improved duration or quality of sleep; uterine involution; increased libido; facilitated healing/recovery; and no reported benefits.

Placenta Encapsulation is one of the easiest, least offensive ways to consume pure placenta. At the beginning, the dosage of placenta pills is higher, gradually tapering off as the women’s body gently transitions from pregnancy to postpartum. Each woman’s experience and results will be unique!

Preparation Methods

Raw Preparation Method - $250

When you choose the fresh preparation method, your placenta will be cleaned, dehydrated, ground, and encapsulated into vegetarian or berry flavored capsules—your choice. Benefits include more pills, less hormone degradation, greater energy boost, and increased milk supply.

Steamed Preparation Method - $275

This method is a simplified variation of the Traditional Chinese Method. Your placenta is gently steamed, dehydrated, ground, and encapsulated into vegetarian or berry flavored capsules—your choice. Due to steaming, the mass of the placenta is reduced by a third, so there are fewer pills, but some theorize that steaming makes the nutrients more bio-available for the body.
